Whatsup Hivers!
It has been a little over a month since I came to Turkey. I am meeting lots of amazing people here. One of them is Vedat. This guy saved my life twice already in Turkey lol. Earlier today, we went to the shopping mall to get him some clothes for his date tonight. I needed a SIM for my phone, and I asked him if he could help me with that. With Burcu going out with her girlfriend and the latest internet outage (which took 2 days (like wtf)), it would be a smart choice to get internet for the remaining month that I will still be here.
Can't get back to the apartment...
So, here is one scenario. While Emre is the guy responsible for bringing in all the people, I got to know Vedat a few weeks ago. With the group consisting of 6 people back then, we were chatting for some time. At some point, Burcu got a bit tired and decided to call it a day. I'll be there in 30 minutes is what I told her, but the poor thing was so tired, she fell asleep. Like... really asleep. When I got upstairs, I rang the doorbell, but she did not reply. After 30 minutes of trying I gave up and thought I shared it with the group chat "shit, can't get in the apartment, Burcu fell asleep". So, this guy, that I just met: "You can come here and sleep on the couch".
Like, wtf? This would probably not happen in Holland. I felt pretty grateful, even though I had accepted my faith to sleep on one of the benches downstairs.
Yo, can you help me with ordering food?
LOL. Yeah, I did not have food in the house, and Burcu was out with her girlfriend. I thought I'd just sign up for an online ordering system, but my phone number was rejected so I could not get through the verification process. RIP. With Burcu having fun in Kusadasi, with some drinks, I could not get food myself. So... I decided to give it a shot with Vedat. The time this guy has to spend on easy things in life for someone else, I can only cry and laugh about it at the same time. Damn tourists these days..., so he made sure I was fed a pizza, which I devoured within 10 minutes.
SIM card?
At some point, I noticed I started to rely on hotspot internet while not with Burcu or back at the apartment. And when there was an internet outage of 2 days, I did not want to burden Vedat anymore with asking for hotspot internet or asking him to call Burcu when she was out. Lol. So, today I helped him with picking some clothes, and he helped me with getting a SIM card (which was quite a hassle).
Of course, I brought my camera with me because I just wanted to shoot this guy as a boss man. Because dang, this guy may not literally have saved my life, he did make my life here in Turkey a lot more easier. And of course, besides the help I got from him, we have a lot of fun as well. Together with Misha (Mikhail), we go swimming in the morning around 7:30, and going to the gym around 9PM. Never had gymbro's lol (because I never went to the gym), but we are just chilling, talking, and sharing (life)stories. Pretty good stuff! Anyway, I wanted to thank him with some cool portraits that he could use for his portfolio, resume, or so you guys can start hiding your girlfriends.
Full Stack Developer
Vedat is a Full stack developer, and I'm trying to onboard him on Hive. I mean, we could use more Full Stack developers, right?
Cheers,
Ruben
