Its been a crazy few days. The bomb cyclone hit my area hard. We are on the western edge of the Green Mountains where some of the worst winds struck.
Downed trees are everywhere. There were 54,000 customers in Vermont without power after the storm.
Lots of the downed trees were big old pines.
This 80-100ft tall white pine fell across the power lines in front of my house. Power went out at 4am on Friday and was restored Monday at 1pm. We are fortunate that no damage occured to our home. And even more fortunate to have a neighbor with a back up generator that took us in.
Here's the tree crew that came in on Sunday.
They cut the tree down leaving a snapped power line behind. My mail box was smashed but if thats all the damage, I'll take it.
The linemen came next. Power was restored to most of the neighborhood Sunday. Ironically, my tree in front of my house was not the problem with my power. My power comes off a different line that runs behind my house... and of course had a tree down on it also. They found and fixed that the next day and all is well.
