For this last weekend, I wanted to make a video about doing steel wool photos. Starting at the bayfront in Hamilton Ont. on Saturday night. I set up on the rocks along the shoreline and got one shot off, before people came to the same spot to drink and party. I packed up and decided to wait until Sunday night and at a different location.
This time I went to the entrance of the "juggernaut" tunnel. It got this nickname because it is the largest storm drain in Canada (6km in length). I set up at the entrance for it and began snapping. After two shots I started to hear a lot of noise in the bushes behind me and when I turned on my flashlight, there was 3 sets of eyes reflecting back at me. I could tell they were not small animals but saw no reason for concern as they were a decent distance away. This changed within minutes they were only about 20 feet away. This was enough to spook me into leaving. I was in an isolated location with large animals (only animals of that size around here would be coyotes or wild dogs) getting closer to me instead of running while I was spinning the steel wool, yes it was time to go.
Both nights my plans failed, but I still got a few decent shots and there is always more nights to try more!
