Quinoa has become my main love among all dishes I've recently cooked.
I heard about it long ago and even tried to buy it some years ago, but I failed. Maybe the type of quinoa wasn't good, or I just was much worse cooker than I am now;))
Anyways, only NOW I am in love with it!
I've chosen RED quinoa in the online supermarket. There're some types of it, and the red one is considered to be the best and the most tasty, tand it's a little bit more expensive.
I paid about 4$ for 500g, and it seems to be it's the biggest price for grain I've ever seen in my country. But it's worth it! It's super healthy and very nutritious!๐
I tired to cook a vegetable dish with it.
At first we need to soak it in water for 12 hours (otherwise it can be bitter and not so healthy)
It becomes bigger,and I tasted it after soaking, it was NOT bitter, and I was calm to cook it.
๐Then we need:
- carrot - 2 pcs
- onion - 2 pcd
- green beans - 200g
We peel and cut all veggies into pieces you like.
That's the result
We need to stew them for about 5-10 min, not more.
All spices you like - add there. I used garlic, pepper, salt.
Then we boil quinoa for about 5 min, and then leave it in hot water for 15 min more. It will become 2-3 times bigger!
and then our task is just to combine them all - quinoa and veggies. We can stew them together for 2-3 min or just mix them in our plate.
Some oil you like to make it more tasty!
Another variant is to add quinoa to raw veggie salad, and it also tastes cool!
Quinoa has great nut taste and it's very soft and tender in the mouth.
And healthy it is! Hmmmmmmm...
