intro
First off thanks @tonytrillions for mentioning me in their post earlier. I intend on posting on Weedcash as much as possibly can it's good to see that it is appreciated and not annoying or anything. Because ill be here
Now that the formalities are out of the way we can get down to business both literally and metaphorically down because today's post is about dirt or growing medium to be exact.
So yesterday's post was about the light I'm using so today's post will be about some of the nutrients that I swear by. By nutrients I mean organic nutrients or minerals in some cases. One the company's with cheaper soil amenities that I use is down to earth fertilizer not sure how they feel about their link on a Marijuana blog 🤔:
https://downtoearthfertilizer.com/
But I'll risk it anyway because I swear by their products and more often than not your local cannabis growing supply store doesn't stock their products. Which is a shame because they have such an amazing selection of low impact nutrients like kelp meal that have a low NPK numbers and are meant to feed bacteria fungi and in my case worms that attributed to a healthy nutrient cycle.
picture sucks sorry
Don't misunderstanding me I started as a gorilla style grower back in the day before it became legal here. When running through the woods at night trying not to use lights and hide the last thing i cared about was organic nutrients. I was blasting with miracle grow and flushing while hoping for the best 👌. Once it became legal in Michigan and I mean recreational because if I listed the med patients that I know have been raided we would be here forever. Literally 2 separate growers within 2 blocks that where raided by the cops 👮♂️ and found innocent eventually after they had assets seized their dog shot in the head and door kicked in.
Needless to say I played it safe by breaking the law I didn't want my pet shot.
Now that I'm done ranting about corrupted cops let's get back to the cleaner subject dirt. The reason I finally switched over to organics is partly due to one of my friends that moved out to California to grow and moved back to Michigan for a couple of years. He had a lot of experience in growing in comparison to me due to the number of plants he was growing. He was the one who first introduced me to Sulphur free molasses, down to earth fertilizer, and (tea) fertilizer.
I don't use tea anymore I started a compost I would say pile but it is literally a 6×4ft 10ft deep pit that I have been composting in for year's now and is almost back to ground level. Also serving as a worm bead but I still think that tea is better but with the cold climate it is not as practical in the winter.
I don't have permission from down to earth fertilizer to advertise otherwise I would show some of their products. I put in a request but they probably won't get back to me considering that I told them it's for a cannabis blog but who knows. They sell their products on Amazon for a little more than their site price but with prime having free shipping it evens out.
The reason why you should check into organics if not already growing that way is the salts, and other trace elements that build up in your soil causing not only the soil to become acidic and can burn your plant. This can also negatively impact terpene protection giving the cannabis a potentially bad flavor or smell/or a lack there of. Besides the salts and other elements don't necessarily come out of the plant when flushing due to the volume built up in the soil.
Going with individual nutrients added to your grow medium when planting such as oyster shells, insect Fras fancy name for bug 💩, and kelp meal. You can start to determine what you prefer what you can taste in your pot and what works best for you . That's why I like this company many growing companies have the same separate organic nutrients that are also organic however a lot of them use a liquid version which can be great when foliar feeding but I prefer to use a solid variety when making up my growing medium. This is why I thought I would post about down to earth fertilizer they are cheap about $8 a 2 pound box on Amazon and they have it listed for around $5 a five pound box on their site.
