Hello Hivers in Market Friday! I am NomNomNoodle, newbie blogger, content creator and of course, huge local market supporter. I am from Thailand, aka the promised land of street foods. š
As my current job right now located in my hometown, Chiang Mai. It was very convenient to go to work and able to come back home at the end of the day, but already too tired to do anything, even cook myself a meal. Fortunately, god has sent me a market, filled with food and located just 10 min away from me.
I find this would be the perfect community to share it with, since we all are the 'Market supporter'. Let me show you around, how Thai market looks like and maybe give you guys a little insight from a local person.
First off, let's start with the most well-known street food, Pad thai. That we have a whole table of it. No kidding. You can choose any kind of noodle you like.
Culture notes here: we Thai always have rice 3 meals a day, we would always look for a various side dish. Like this picture. They are soups with meat, put in bags for easy pick up.
This too is the side dish, but she also sells water bottles and mini fans.
This one is called Khanom Jeen Num Ya. The yellow soup is fish curry soup, which we eat with Thaiāriceāflour noodles or lightly fermented rice noodles.
This is another kind of noodle dish. You can pick which noodle and which sauce/paste to go with.
Original Thai food: Chilli paste with steamed vegetable.
Other than Thai food, there's also Lasagnas. Different kinds of Lasagna.
The market also got some fried insects, but they're not crazy like spiders or scorpions.
These are steamed fish and fried fish.
These are soy marinated Salmon, crabs and shrimp. Some said it's has too strong of a smell, but I love the taste of it.
Here are the sushis.
Japanese Takoyaki, octopus in a fried flour ball.
There are fruits, i.e. Banana and orange juice.
Some desserts were offered here too. This one is my favorite called Khanom Krok, which is Coconut rice pancakes.
These are Thai desserts packed in banana leaf cups.
Other than food, they selling stuffs like piggy bank.
From all the photos, I hope you get to grasp more concept of our Thai market. If you have any questions at all, feel free to ask me in the comments and I'll look forward to see your market too!
Let's stay local, everybody
Khob khun kaa,
