Going to the market is one of the things that stresses me a whole lot and I'd rather buy all of my groceries at the supermarket if I could. But not everything can be gotten at the supermarket and I prefer most of these foods fresh.
This market is called Station market located in Kaduna South, Kaduna and it's a few minutes drive from my house. I prefer it to the one closer to my house because it is spacious and I can walk around freely without anyone bumping into me.
Here, I buy everything I need and I can get local ingredients from my region here like banga (palm fruit). These are not usually of the best quality and don't make my local dishes as exciting but I make do with them just to get a taste of home sometimes.
I am a regular here and I buy from the same set of people every time. Their prices are fair, they're super nice to me and I get premium service so I barely ever go to other stalls.
This is where I buy my tomatoes, peppers, and onions. I always buy two of these small buckets for tomatoes, one for peppers/onions and it lasts me for a month or more. I am a sucker for good customer service so the day she helped me carry my items from her stall to the market entrance, she won my heart.
I also buy other things like melon seeds, ogbono, stock fish, beans, vegetables, cow skin and crayfish from a particular stall. There's no point walking around the whole market or excessively bargaining because everyone sells within the same price range.
Food items have been on the high side in recent months but I found out that things were relatively cheaper on this shopping trip. I was able to get everything I wanted for about $15 and I had my bags full.
...And that's about it for my market Friday today!
