Last Sunday, my son and one of his best friends convinced me to adopt a cat.
The idea had been in the air since we took care of my son's friend's cat last year. But I was not at all convinced, even though it had been very hard to let the cat we took care of, Cora, after a month with her at home.
But last Sunday, I was told that everything was ready to look for a kitten. My son hadn't said anything, but he had already chosen it a few days ago. So we went to look for it that afternoon.
Before looking for the kitten, we went to a pet shop to buy the essentials, litter, food, and flea spray. As the kitten was with his mother and the rest of the kittens she had had in a garden, it was full of fleas.
He is barely a month old. And he's so little that we're not sure of the sex yet, so he doesn't have a name either.
He already eats solids. Although, we have also been giving him a little lactose-free milk a couple of times a day with the help of a syringe.
Little by little, he has been adapting. But the first two nights, he didn't let my son sleep at night. If my son fell asleep, the kitten began meowing like crazy.
At the moment, we are afraid to leave him home alone. Today since my husband wasn't working at home, I took him with me when I went to pick my son up from school.
Every time he doesn't want to be disturbed, he shows his little sharp teeth while making a funny little grunt. I hope he doesn't turn out to be a grumpy kitten.
Coming back to the name, the list of possibilities is growing every day. If it's a male, and I think he is, my son wants to name him Grogu, like Baby Yoda. I don't like that name. Other names that have been considered are Esteban, Teko, Enmanuel, Atila, Whiskers, Arpo, and Melao.
On the other hand, if it is a female kitten, my son wants to call her Arca. I like Daisy. My friend Ed likes Amy. Ana, my son's friend, Cora's mum, and the kitten's godmother wants to call her Kara. Other names on the list are Catalina and Sweety.
The name thing itches and spreads. I think it would be helpful to be sure of the sex to at least shorten the list.
For the time being, we have already spoken to the vet today to deworm him, and he has given us the medication. Hopefully, in the next few days, he will no longer be the kitten without a name. Do you have any suggestions?
