On Friday morning I woke exhausted and not feeling well. I got my photos edited and went to sit down for a while. I had to keep the fires going because it was raining off and on all day.
I eventually got up and got the lights and bulbs unpacked and tested. Of the six 2 foot light fixtures I ordered, 5 came in with the reflector damaged, and one had a receptacle jammed into the body. I was able to more or less repair them all and they all worked.
I tested the 12 lights that came with them and 3 of them were not working properly. I had also ordered 15 of the 4 foot special spectrum bulbs. Five of those weren’t working properly and 1 even shorted out the electric outlet repeatedly.
Not terribly pleased with this order! After that I cleaned up the packing mess and then sat down to peel the labels off the 6 reflector hoods so they wouldn’t rust if they got wet.
Once all that was done, I sat down to rest until my #3 helper came at 12:30PM. I sent her on errands and rested some more. When she got back, we cleaned up the kitchen and started cooking a new recipe.
I had found it the day before when I found the gyro recipe. She did most of the chopping and meatballs. I just collected things we needed. Once we had that going, we sat down to thin seedlings.
The storage onions were well up, so we thinned them out and transplanted the thinnings into the pots that hadn’t come up. My #3 helper had never done this before and found it fascinating.
We had just finished this when the contractor arrived. He was going to make the trim boards for the 2 living room windows. He got them done and ready to stain next time he comes.
I had a bunch of things needing repair so we started on that. The wire support on the lamp shade had torn out when the lamp was knocked over a couple weeks ago. With our 4 hands, we were able to get it back into the very top pretty securely.
I had made the pressed flower frame a while back and hung it half in the window in the clean room. But many times when the window shade went up or down, it would hit it. Finally the chain broke. So we got that mended and found a new place by the back porch door to hang it up. It will be much safer there.
After that I sat down to rest and she got the 11 domes for the next seed starting, for the seed trays, washed up.
The last of the seed starting supplies arrived in the evening, a case of (1404) 3” pots. That ought to keep me going for a couple more years. My motor for my office clock (that has been sorely missed) also arrived.
I sure was glad to have a wonderful supper made already. I got the fires going and shades pulled at 6PM and sat down to watch ‘Mamma Mia!’ But I was so tired I never went to bed until nearly 10PM. I hate when I get so wiped out and can’t sleep.
Saturday is to be a cloudy warmer day, near 40F, so I’ll be tending stoves all day. I hope to get the bills/budget finished. I should clean up the kitchen and my brother and I have to take the trash to the dump in the morning. And if I can summon the brain power, I’ll attempt to repair the clock.
