Greetings to you all! I just started this blog as a way to share our adventures here on our little homestead in rural New Hampshire, USA. Here we work to build a sustainable way of life, a rich tradition for our children, a strong community and a spiritually nourishing environment through hard work, dedication, education and traditional skills. We make many of our own tools, do our own vehicle maintenance, plant and wild craft our food, preserve and cure our own meats, vegetables and fruits. We also work with local charities to better our world. I am unbelievably excited to be sharing these adventures with all of you!
Here we are last year at our friends farm helping to cull and butcher meat goats.
Here I am taking them down to primal cuts
And here is our friend preparing the hides for salting so they can be tanned at a later time. We waste as little as possible from these animals who help keep us alive!
Every year we hold a small feast and share the products of our labor with our friends and family. Nothing is as rewarding as feeding the people you love with food grown, processed and then cooked with your own hands!
We also like to work with local charities. Here I am standing in front of a stack of insulation that I managed to find and get donated to a local group who provides housing and services for the homeless.
And from our blacksmith shop, here on the property we produce many of our own tools. Here is a little utility knife we made for doing small tasks around the homestead.
I hope you have enjoyed this little overview of some of the things we do here and I am looking forward to sharing more with all of you in days to come.
