My grandma, greatgrandma, me, my mom 1957
On Sunday my mom and brother were coming to visit. I managed to get the house plants watered and the big post about Saturday done. Then around noon I started making creamed chipped beef on rice with parsnips for my main meal.
I never remembered to take any photos on Sunday and Monday so I have selected some old photos to fill in.

My brother said they wouldn’t be eating, but when they got here, they changed their minds. I figured they would and had made a big batch. They had brought my nephew Jeremiah also.
So we all sat down to a nice meal and when we’d finished, my brother and nephew went to put greens on my dad’s grave.

My mom and I sat at the computer while I made 3 new phone number cards for her ring. I had made this huge ring of cards last summer because she was having trouble reading smaller print. Each card had the person’s photo (if I could find one), name, and full phone number.

They headed out as soon as my brother returned and I spent the evening watching a video, The Blue Butterfly.

On Monday I tackled the bills/budget project and made good headway. My friend and I had planned to go to the late morning showing of A Man Called Otto, so I got ready to go for 10:30.

But the mall looked deserted but was open and when we tried to get into the theater, it was locked. We hadn’t checked first and the movie wouldn’t start until 1:15. Well, we didn’t want to be there that late so we had to think of another idea. We looked to see if any other theaters had it playing early, but nope.

Then I thought of the Mt. Holyoke College greenhouses. We checked and they were open. They would be preparing for the upcoming Bulb Show, so they would be smelling pretty good, I thought. So off we went.

They were setting up the house for the Bulb Show and the flowers were just starting to open, so the smell was there, but not as strong as it would be in a week. It’s such a heavenly smell!
We had a great time wandering through all the houses and seeing all the different kinds of plants. Then we headed back on a different road, looking for the flood stage marker I knew was down in that area. We found it on Rt. 47, marking 4 floods in 1927, 1936, 1938, and 1984.

Then we went back to my house and I had to prep the dining room for the contractor. He was hopefully going to finish the floor project.
My friend had loaned me a book by Dr. Josh Axe called Eat Dirt. I’ve been working my way through it and am finding it very interesting. It deals a lot with nutrient density and clean organic food for treating leaky gut.

The contractor arrived mid afternoon and I read mostly until he went. Then I watched another video, Adam’s Rib, while I got the stoves going. We are expecting another real snow storm in the night, 4” - 7” and to continue all day on Tuesday.
Tom arrived about the same time, bringing my Subaru back from the mechanic’s after a 2½ week stay. He got the truck to take home to plow his driveway. With storms coming through he will keep it and just come plow as needed.
My helper friend is supposed to come on Tuesday morning, if he can get out. We will be setting up all the shelving and lights for the seed starting on Thursday.
