I was awoken around 11PM on Wednesday night by my CPAP stopping. The power had gone out. So I dozed not very well waiting for it to come on. Finally around 5AM I got up and discovered that power was only on in half the house, in all 3 sections! How bizarre!
My brother was up and so I made breakfast after we got the 2 fridges hooked up to extension cords. He started laundry because the washer was working, but the dryer was not. I had checked all 3 panels and nothing was tripped.
So I ate while he showed me photos of his trip. At 7:30AM I called the electrician and he said it sounded like we’d lost a leg of electricity and that was the power company’s deal. So I called the neighbors to see if they had lost power but they hadn’t. So I called the electric company. They said I was the first ticket and someone would be out in ½ hour.
Apparently the construction of the addition in 2020 had put too much strain on the cable and it had partially broken. So the technician hooked up this little unit until the power company can run a new cable.
But the dryer wasn’t working still so the technician came in to see what was up. Turns out somehow the breaker tripped. By the time we’d figured it out, there were more electric company people here.
They ran red DigSafe flags along where the old cable is. The poor cats were fed an hour late and nearly didn’t survive it, or so I was informed.
I sure hope we can bag up the remaining kindling before they dig the trench through the area.
I had thawed out what I thought was a whole chicken on Wednesday, only to discover it was a bag of chicken breasts. Well, they went into the crockpot anyways. They will taste good and we’ll have several meals from then.
It rained off and on all day. Because of the poor sleep, I wasn’t feeling so good and dozed in the chair most of the afternoon. At 3:45PM my Wednesday helper appeared. She was filling in an hour because my helper friend is still not back to work.
On Friday, I hope to change over my winter clothes and put away the summer ones. My Wednesday helper will be here in late afternoon and I hope to get the house plants fed.
