Monday my husband and I had the first oncology visit. One thing that came out of that was that my husband needed much more protein in his diet than what they were serving him.
So we put together a list of mini meals he’d want to eat between meals. I wanted to use our own high quality meat for the protein and organic ingredients.
Zack took me to the store and I found a bunch of 1 cup glass storage bowls and we went home and cooked up 2 meals, pork fried rice and shepherd’s pie. I also put some fruit, strawberries and blueberries, in some of the cups. Then Zack and I went to the rehab and dropped off the clean laundry, the food, and the visit notes.
On the way up the driveway, that broken post leaning into the driveway caught my attention. We had 1 hour left of Zack’s time, so we went up to fix the post. I also started repairing the wire that had been trashed during the construction last year.
When we got the post fixed, we discovered the next one towards the house was broken. I didn’t have a second post handy and Zack was out of time. At least it leans towards the pasture…
When I got in the house I got a call from my husband. The nursing home wanted to send him home on Thanksgiving, discharged. Or on Monday. I had 2 reservations about that. First, the meds issue has not been resolved and there would be no help available over the weekend in sorting it. And secondly, Tony had only just started the living room floor and there was no place to move things out of the old living room to. Tony also would have to install a handrail on the old front steps.
So we left it he would be discharged on Monday, so we’d have time to set up nursing help. And Tony would have time to get the floor down so we could move things on Sunday.
So the frantic pace resumes, to get as much done by the time he he’s sent home.
