Thursday night it did get down to 36F. I was up just before 6AM and got the photos edited and the post up. I cleaned up the kitchen and my helper friend arrived at 8AM.
The job of the day on Friday was to clean up and chop the Walla onions. I had my nifty new chopper and left the job to my helper friend. I sat and made the bags for him. (Everything going into the freezers is labeled.)
The Wallas hadn’t fared well in the much cooler temps we’ve had this autumn. So we were just salvaging what we could. I had enough green tops in the freezer so he was taking those home.
We ended up with 19 one cup bags for the freezer.
The white oak is not even close to having dropped even half of its leaves. But it’s to rain on Sunday so I must mow up what’s come down and is dry on Saturday.
I did manage to get a second photo of the Big rose that shows it’s true color. Usually I end up with the odd luminescent pink color, on the right.
The seedlings, mostly Sweet Williams, that had been left in the cold frame died during the month of no rain. I forgot to water them. So I had my helper friend clean out the cold frames, leaving the stones and sticks for leveling seedling trays next year.
This is the Columbus Day weekend here in Massachusetts and the last big harrah for tag sales. But I don’t have a driver so none for me this year.
I just rested and watched movies all afternoon on Friday.
For supper I had a ham steak and I made a bed of nectarines and cranberries then seasoned it. The steak went on top and was covered with nectarine and cranberries and seasonings. Then add some apple cider vinegar and water and into the oven for 45 minutes. So good and easy.
Saturday will be mowing and not a lot else. I do have to put a whole chicken in the crockpot before I go out to mow. My brother and I will add roasted vegs to go with it for supper.
I’ll be lighting the fire at night in the office for the next week or more. I’ll probably have it going during the day on Sunday as it will be cold and raining.
