The bowl in front is what I got out of the garden. The 2 in back are what’s left of the 15# that wasn’t ripe a few days ago. I’d planned to turn them into tomato soup base and a rainy Saturday was the perfect day for it.
I did it a little differently this time, cooking all the vegs before running them through the Squeezo and blender. It didn’t seem to make a difference. I added the pressed garlic and seasonings after the Squeezo and cooked it down farther.
I got a lovely thick sauce to use as a base for tomato soup. I ended up with 10½ pints, for a total of 21 pints for next year. This will make as much as twice as many meals (42), depending on how hungry I am.
I got the dehydrator emptied and the echinacea is done. Another batch of chamomile and that will be done. I need to start parsley. I finished cleaning and tying the peppermint. I am going to try to hang it to dry. If it molds, it’s no loss, as I have a lot of it already. But we are entering the drier autumn now and I might get away with it.
A few nights back my husband went out to put the pastured birds to bed and they were all grouped around a small area of the fence. When he got closer he discovered they were in apparent conversation with this bunny. They all stayed like that for the longest time, at least 5 minutes.
Sunday we move the pasture pen, and I hope to get some more done in the New Herb garden.
My husband took Saturday off and he has some roof work to do.
