Adding to what the rabbit should eat and consume without them having running stomach there we have plantain leaves. I was at the farm yesterday when it occured to me fetch some green plantain leaves and feed the rabbits but not the little small ones.
A-side the plantain leaves there are some other plantain component which can also be fed to rabbit and they will eat and enjoy comfortably without any stress attached. What I mean is this, plantain foliage, the plantain top which are the leaves occuring at the top before the main plantain fruit comes out. Also after the plantain fruit is out already, the fruit cover which are also waste from the plantain can also be fed to rabbit .
Some Importance attached by feeding plantain leaves to rabbits.
- Despite the fact that the plantain leaves contains little amount of protein it can be fed to rabbits, even the growing ones.
- Plantain leaves in adult rabbit has no negative adverse effect on them so they can consume even more than the grower rabbits.
- Do you know that in most pig farms both plantain leaves, plantain stem, plantain fruits waste are also fed as supplementary feeds.
- Feeding pure green leaves like plantain leaves to especially rabbit should be minimize.
At first, the plantain leaves should be introduced to animals slowly and steady progress with moderate increase as time goes on. With practical experience i use this just once in a while to serve as food supplements rather than leaving them for hunger strik on the farm.
As for the plantain leaves, I fetch from the growers not already big half parents ones this is because if I fetch from the big ones, it will take some longer time again for it to regenerate making it few weeks.
