You open the second door on the left and notice it’s a small office. It however is not like anything else you have found since you left Earth. There was a computer in there. Along with actual paper and folder files. It became quite clear someone from Corporation C-199X has taken over this room and set up some kind of workspace.
The computer was off so you turned it on. It flashed the Corporation C-199X logo. It instantly booted up to a Corporation C-199X user profile. It requested a biometric scan to unlock. Since you could not pass that you clicked on the “guest” option. This logged you in as a guest.
The guest login had quite limited access to what was on the computer. You however could tell this computer had encrypted messaging ability to send Corporation C-199X information and vis versa. There were also a lot of middle management applications.
You attempted to escalate privilege from a guest user to an admin. That however failed. It seems even out here they were still getting security updates. You also admit to yourself you don’t know much about hacking into systems by Corporation C-199X. If this was an MBTX system that might be a different story if they were a couple of security patches behind.
You poke around the system further to see what else you can learn. It has been a year since you played around with anything by Corporation C-199X so it took a little while to get used to how they have their UI and system layout set up.
The best you could tell it had been a month or so since the computer itself was last booted up. This seemed to indicate along with some other clues found while exploring that this place was active not that long ago.
You decided to search the rest of the office in hopes of finding anything that looked like a possible password. While there were some personal effects on the desk such as a single photo and some prints out of emails. None of these helped you in trying to brute force your way into the user account by bypassing biometrics and using a secondary login option.
Just in case you removed the draws from the desk to make sure nothing was hidden under them or behind them in the drawer holder itself. You came up empty. The only other thing you found was the name “Mathew .“ you however could not tell if that was the Corporation C-199X employee or someone they had spoken with.
After one final search, it seems there was nothing else to learn and time to move on elsewhere. You could either check the first door in the hallway if you have not already or move forward.
