You head out towards what seemed to be a trail heading to the west. It was hard to tell in the sea of ice all around you. While there were some trees it looked like they had been caked in blocks of ice for quite some time. Perhaps this planet use to not always be this cold.

You ended up walking at quite a slow pace. Snow is quite hard to walk in when it’s not been already packed down. Most of the snow you were walking in was quite fresh and even sticky. You would sometimes start to sink as you took the next step forward.

After many hours of heading west, you ended up just falling over so exhausted. You were half tempted to take off your space suit as you were just so hot. That is however when you recalled that you could slightly adjust the suit’s temperature. It’s kind of funny you are surrounded by nice and turned the cooling on in your suit.

After a short break, you got back up to your feet. You started to pay a little more attention to the trees on this planet than you had before. They were quite strange. Sometimes half of a tree would have pine needles while the other half would have oak leaves. Expect it was clear these were not pine trees or oak trees.

You got to a point where you realized you were starting to descend somewhat at a decently steep rate. You must be walking down some massive hill. This went on for perhaps a mile before the ground level seemed to almost level off again.

That is when you walked right up to what must have been a frozen-over lake. While at first, you felt it might be risky stepping out onto ice increase it might break. The fact of the matter is you looked down and it seemed like the entire lake was solid ice.

You looked ahead of you and that is when you realized there appeared to be a cave on the other side of the lake. It was somewhat hard to make out but it looked like some snow drifts were piling up around an opening that you could only assume was a cave.

You looked to the left and right of yourself. There did not quite seem to be an easy way to get around this lake. It seemed however if you were going to avoid going onto the lake the right side would be the shortest path to the cave. You could also risk it and try walking straight across the lake.
