While some rocks had fallen on the tunnel to the east you were able to climb over the stack of them in one section. In another section, a giant bolder had fallen but you were able to crawl under it to continue moving north.

The rocks must have severed the lighting as the rest of the tunnel was quite dark. After a while, the tunnel turned to head west. This went on for quite a long distance.

There were quite a few side shafts that were slated at an angle. They were at such strange intervals and distances that they made no sense whatsoever. It was like someone had gone mad for mercury poisoning and just kept on carving out random selects of the cave as they went along this western shaft.

After a lot more walking you ended up hitting a massive underground cavern. This place must have been mined out at least a mile in one direction and hundreds of feet to the north. There was also this strange shimmer on the walls that you would notice every so many step.

You walked up closer to one of the cave walls to take a closer look. Was this at one point a Golden Paradox 384 vein? You so wished you could ask the main computer this question it’s a shame it was destroyed along with the ship.

You flipped through the screen on your wristwatch till you got to a scanner application. This would take a while to perform. You looked around and found some rocks you could pile on top of each other. At the very top of it, you placed down the wristwatch and pointed it to the odd-looking colors on the wall to scan.

While waiting you sat down on the frozen cave floor and at a food cube. You then drifted into a half-dream state. Wishing you were back home about to go to work in the lab in a few hours.

Your eyes twitched open and you jumped up in excitement. You did not need to be told again. You picked up your wristwatch to look at the data. It was quite a small amount almost un-measurable. Perhaps that is why they mined out such a huge area even then you doubt it would have been much.

You tried to scrap some of the shimmering-looking material off the cave wall. It simply crumbled into a million pieces and vanished. That was not going to be any way to collect some.

Perhaps you thought to yourself you can find out where they have been refining it. Then you might find a sizable chunk you could take with you. That would only solve one of an endless amount of issues you had at this point. It was however a start.

It was quite clear they mined out as much as possible out of this area. Exploring further down this tunnel was not going to be any help. As such, you started the walk back heading east for quite a distance. It then turned south before you were back at the spot you left off from.

You could choose to continue heading west down the main tunnel or head back towards the elevator.
