You inform the ship to land near the cave network. That location is on the far west of the two other two possible areas. You are rather eager to learn more about the massive cave network that seems to be taking up a large amount of the moon. While it appears the other two sites do not have caves that connect to them who knows what you might end up finding?
The landing spot itself will put you just a short walking distance away from the caves. There appears to only be one other trail in the area heading west taking you to the next landing site. It appears the cave network is the only important thing in this spot.
The ship landed with a bit of a thud. While one of the landing thrusters went out while the ship was descending it was hardly noticeable as the ship has quite a few reductant systems that were able to overcompensate for it.
The bay doors opened and you grabbed the emergency shelter. Being able to truly sleep under the stars is something you could have only dreamed of while living in a dome your entire life. You were not going to pass up this opportunity by sleeping on the ship.
After some final tests, the computer reported back the air on this moon was more than breathable although it seemed it had an elevated risk of fires. There was 25% oxygen, 74% nitrogen, and 1% other trace gases that are not harmful in the amounts they were detected.
While you were hoping it would have been a bit cooler since you are mostly surrounded by trees in this location. The computer did report back this area had elevated tempters compared to the other locations. It seemed it might even get a bit hotter the closer you got to the cave network.
You set off exploring the landing area. It appears to be mostly flat and just about anywhere would work for a spot to set up the emergency shelter. You decided it would be best not to be next to either of the two trails here as who knows what ended up making them in the first place.
You also did not want to be next to the ship either. As it would sometimes get a bit loud as the systems went into different maintenance modes while trying to work out what was damaged and what could if at all be repaired by its automated repair systems which were not working that great these days.
After the emergency shelter is set up you decided to spend the rest of the day just walking around the campsite. While the cave network is not that far away. You want to take in fresh air before heading underground.
The time cycles on this moon are quite long and your wristwatch automation adjusted for the 36-hour time cycles. This gave you lots of time for the first day to just relax and do nothing else but enjoy nature.
After a while, it got dark enough that you decided it was time to go to bed. You ended up sleeping a lot longer than you were expecting. However, since the days and nights are longer on this moon you did not end up losing much sunlight.
You also gave it a thought before passing out for the night of what you were going to do the next day. You could either head out to check the cave network or head east to the forest camp site.
