I love momos and during lockdown I missed them so much, and just to add spice to my craving everyone is posting momos pic. So today luckily I made momos at home. I made a momo platter.
This is the picture I clicked of my momo platter. Trust me, they would were even better what we usually eat outside.
so here's the recipe
- Prepare a momo dough
Take 1 cup of refined flour
A pinch of baking powder/soda
A small tspn of salt
Warm water
Make a soft dough gradually adding enough warm water to the flour.
Keep it aside for 1 hour, this is an important step you cannot miss this.
-Prepare momo chutney
You need 1 tomato ( blanched and peeled), 3-4 pods of garlic, 1 inch ginger, dried red chilly 3 soaked in hot water for 5 minutes, 2 tbspn of coriander leaves, 1 green chilly.
Blend all of this to a nice paste.
Now heat up a pan and add 1 spoon of oil and add the blended paste to it. Let it boil for a minute. Add in half a tbspn of vinegar to it and cornflour paste (2tbspn of cornflour+3 tbspn of water). Let the mixture boil for 2 to 3 minutes till you see bubbles. Let it cool.
- prepare the filling
Now the filling is completely your choice, I personally love chicken as momo filling but I am not allowed to eat chicken so I have to compromise with paneer.
A small finely chopped onion
Half tomato finelly chopped
Paneer ( depend on your filling portion)
Salt and pepper.
Making of momo
Knead the dough for a minute before rolling it out.
Roll it into a thin layer then using a cutter(probably you veggie bowl small) make it a round shape.
Put the filling inside and apply water using your finger so that momo sticks.
Give a momo shape or just fold it otherwise ( who bothers)
Now, you have to steam it. I don't have steamer at my home so I made it in a idly stand.
Your momos will be steamed in 10 minutes or just check if it need more time.
Enjoy!
