Went for a business trip in Rome a couple of weeks ago. I had very little free time to go around in the city which I have already seen many times.
So I dediced to find a good restaurant for lunch. There was an Indian restaurant and I really like ethnic food. I know being in Rome I should have tried Roman cousine like carbonara etc.. but I went for Indian food this time.
The Indian restaurant I tried is called Sitar.
Once inside, there was an indian lady managing the restaurant and a waiter from Pakistan. Strange enough they spoke the same language, Sikh.
The plates I ate there where that not particular.
A thin bread, Tadoori chicken and basmati rise as in the pictures below.
There was also a king of lentichies soup to dress the rice in the bucket of metal you can see in the center of the table!
I also drank their traditional drink which is just yogurt diluited in water. Can't recall the name but it was good.
However, this sauces were the end of the world.
I felt that I could eat everything with those sauces even the stones :-) They were spicy but not to much and I could tell there was ginger, lime and some other falvors and spices I couldn't identify.
I can tell that the food was delicious but the merit is only to the souces :-)
And at the end an indian sweet. It was just rice cooked in sweet milk with some powder of cinnamon on top.
So at the end I would give a five star to the indian food mainly thanks to the souces. When I asked for the bill the waiter and the indian lady gave me also a mix of sugar big grains wit some kind of seeds.
They told me that by eating this mix it would help me digest better.
Finally, I can tell that my first impression of indian food was a fantastic experience and I must repeat it soon.
