Art can be both beautiful and challenging but it will always provoke thought or feeling by capturing the attention somehow. Artists pay attention to their experiences and try to express what is on their minds with clarity.
Mindfulness interprets life in a similar way. By paying attention to experience, and presenting it clearly, in a way that allows it to be managed and understood.
Creativity can be a pleasant and enjoyable experience but it can also be difficult and challenging. Creativity requires imagination, vision, patience, planning, confidence and optimism. It enables self-expression, self-belief, determination and a willingness to learn from mistakes, or move on from set-backs, with positivity and resolve. Creativity practices and develops key skills required for success in life, with all its ups and downs.

I aim to use art and creativity as a way to illustrate and explore typical everyday experiences. In doing so, I hope to practice mindfulness, within the context of the creative activities I engage in. I want to develop the ability to manage challenge creatively, with attention, positivity and calm.
