Introducing @EcoDesigns
Thanian Shiri (Assistant Director of Projects and Programs) and Fon Irene (Director of EcoDesigns and Director of Training in charge of Textile recycling and Fashion Designing)
It’s a branch of The Greens’ Waste Business Hub, a startup incubator that aims at freely training young and underprivileged youths to exploit the business opportunities available in the domain of waste, hence nurture a generation of Waste Business Entrepreneurs (Wastepreneurs).
The blog is meant to share information about;
- how we are empowering women and girls via textile recycling and fashion designing,
- textile recycled products and services
- our top class ecoDesigner dresses, products and services
- how we are cleaning up our community and improving the health and wellbeing of underpriviledged people by reducing, reusing and recycling textile waste
- how young girls are fighting climate change by recycling textile waste
- and how women and girls are leading the change in entrepreneurship via textile waste management
EcoDesigns currently has 02 Training Directors and more than 12 female trainees who are learning fashion designing, embroidery and zigzagging as well as how to transform textile trash into textile treasure.
Some of the products these young girls are making from textile waste include;
- EcoSanitary Pads (Reusable pads) to improve menstrual hygiene and sanitation
- EcoPillows for new born babies
- Piecess Dresses and Designer T-Shirts
- Dolls
- Dodge Balls
- Chalkboard Dusters
- Mattresses
- Scarecrows, etc
While hoping that we get the best welcome, we look forward to blogging about how and why we do what we do at .
