So here we go, introducing myself and what I'm doing here to the Steem community. This might be a bit stream of consciousness because, well, I'm not much of a writer to be honest. So let's start with, who am I? Well, my name is Michael and I live in the northern part of the Great Plains in the USA. I am an anarchist/agorist. So like some of you might be aware, and others might not be, that means I'm not at all a big fan of the State, in really any form. It also means that I believe that all forms of taxation is just theft that most of society approves of. I don't approve, at all, which is where agorism comes in. A core concept of agorism is one of a counter-economy. Namely, finding ways of doing the things you want to do while circumventing State interference. So bartering or buying directly and under the table from others to avoid sales taxes, taking cash payments for services rendered to avoid income taxes, that kind of thing.
This brings us to why I'm here. Well as we all know, we all gotta eat. For most of us, that means going to a store, filling a cart, paying the store money for the products and letting them collect a little extra to send to your State, or City or County or something like that so they can spend it poorly on things we don't need half the time, and the other half paying far more for the thing than would be done in a truly free market. Well, I propose an alternative to that, and that's what I'm here to help people with. All around us food is available with a little work. Wild plants are abundant, wild animals to be hunted, and gardens that can't be taxed and can be grown again year after year by harvesting the seeds from the previous year. It's my goal here, to impart some of my culinary knowledge to those seeking to subvert the State through these processes, or help you prep for a collapse you see coming, or hell...just help you reconnect to the Earth and your food through living more together with where your food comes from. I'll be posting blogs, and articles and(eventually) making videos showing where and how to harvest the bounty that is all around us, and then once it's harvested, what to do with it to preserve it or to make it into a delicious meal for you and your loved ones. Can't wait and hope to see tons of you around as we move forward.
