I love that I am writing this post on a Saturday so that I can convince you to look for a great Sunday Brunch near you. I did that and boy, was my mind blown. In Nairobi, it is like the battle of the Sunday Brunches with every restaurant claiming to have the best one. And that is great for consumers and foodies like us because we get to have the best food, ambience and service.
There is this restaurant called Park Inn that opened in Nairobi a few months ago and just recently, they unveiled their Sunday Brunch menu. It is a walking distance from Westlands and this makes it an ideal location to go for a chill Sunday hang out.
The Restaurant
The hotel has a restaurant called the Live Inn Restaurant and it is very airy and they have a terrace in case you do not want to eat from inside. They have an open plan seating and a buffet area where you can go with your friends and family to serve what you want. I have dined there before but I was still curious about what they had during their brunch. The restaurant decor is colourful and they have these little colourful buckets on the tables to put the cutlery.
Ambience
I loved the feel of the restaurant because it was bright and the setting made it feel like Sunday brunch indeed. There were people with their loved ones and little kids having a great time. You can choose to sit on the bar stool type chairs on a high table or on the lower tables and chairs near the food station. Obviously, I chose the latter because I want to be within a short radius from my food. I want to grab what I want without having to make so many trips across the restaurant. There was a live band playing and they were too loud for my liking, but apart from that, everything else was great. They also ended up switching the live band to some mellow music and I was happy.
The Food & Drink
There was an array of everything you would want. Whether you like breakfast food for brunch or lunch foods, there was so much to choose from including a live pasta cooking section. There was also a waffles section. We all know that it is never really Sunday brunch without bottomless sparkling wine, Bloody Mary's and other cocktails. I loved the Bloody Marys although everyone on my table hated them. They had a strong Heinz "ketchup-y" tase but I did not mind it.
Service
Service was great although we served our food ourselves because it was a buffet style setting. However, they were quick with the drinks and sparkling wine top-ups.
In a nutshell, I had a pretty good time I got there at 11 am and left at 3 pm. We ate so much and I had some cool friends to hang out with so I was in no hurry. Plus the bottomless champagne sealed the deal.
Once in a while, everyone should enjoy a great Sunday Brunch out!
