Kikiam is Filipino street food. This food is one of those Chinese influence in our culture. China and the Philippines have been trading even before we were colonized by Spain, America, and Japan. Philippines-China trade relations go back to ancient times that's why we have so much influence from them and vice versa.
Kikiam is like a sausage but it is smaller and shaped differently, it has pointed ends rather than rounded like a sausage. Its ingredients are ground pork, shrimps, carrots, onions, salt, ground black pepper, cornstarch, bean curd sheets, and 5-spice powder. Everything is just mixed and rolled in bean curd sheets and sealed with wet cornstarch. The next step is to steam the kikiam rolls then afterward, you can deep fry them before serving.
Kikiam is a famous street food loved by many. It is usually served with sweet and sour sauce. For some who love it spicy, the kikiam vendor has a special spicy sauce for them in his cart. Some Filipinos eat it with rice, too.
