Hello Stemians. My entry for today's #landscapephotography is "Walking the Arch Duke Bridalway"
If you are visiting the island of Mallorca for a walking holiday, then a highly recommend you do this walk above Valdemossa. With a steep walk up the mountain to get the cardio going and spectacular views, this is my favourite walk on the island. The walk is 11 kilometres and take 4-5 hours to complete.
In 1867 the Archduke visited Mallorca and loved it so much that he stayed! He was keen hiker and nature lover. He is responsible for cataloging (and sketching) a broad range of flora and fauna found on the island. In so doing he also built an impressive bridleway, complete with refuges and miradors (look-out points) that we continue to enjoy now.
The walk starts in Valdemossa, is about 11 km and takes approximately 4 hours to complete. Starting with a gentle stroll along a wide track through a picturesque valley lined with ancient olive trees. We then climb steeply out of the valley through oak woods, enjoying the views of Valldemossa behind us as we climb. It is from here you can join the Arch Duke Bridal Pathway where one can enjoy these spectacular views.
Afterwards it's a steep descent down and old donkey track through the woods back to Valdemossa.

I took these photos with my Fujifilm camera.
