One of the ultimate dishes to eat in Laos in laap - it's an insane mixture of meat (in this case pork), organs, a heap of herbs, chilies, and some bile for extra bitter flavor.
On my recent trip to Vientiane, Laos, I asked some local friends where to eat the best plate of laap.
I was pointed in the direction of Pa Kham Than, a local home-feeling kind of spot.
The dish you have to order is laap pia, a mix of meat, with Laos mint, culantro, insane amounts of chilies, khao khua (toasted ground sticky rice powder), and finally some bile (yes the digestive liquid), to give it a balanced bitter bite.
It was indeed one of the greatest plates of laap I've ever had in my life.
How to get there: It's located just west of Patuxai Monument in Vientiane, Laos. Look for the Samsung store, and it's just down the road.
Opening Hours: Breakfast and Lunch (we were the final customers for the day, and we left at 2pm)
Prices: 20,000 LAK per plate for most meat dishes.
