Hello SPIers. Many of you will know already that SPI released its newest token Top 15 (XV) 3 weeks ago. This token is basically a 2-year project where all HIVE collected from XV token sales are converted into a basket of 15 cryptos from the top 50 ranked. Token sales last for 7 more weeks, after this time we HODL for 2 years and wait for the bull market. In June 2025 I sell the basket of cryptos, convert the lot to HIVE and buy back all the XV tokens from investors through hive-engine and fingers are crossed each XV will be worth alot more than the issuing price of 1 HIVE each. You can see full details here
As new projects are launched under SPinvest, more knowledge, more time and more resources are required to add on the additional work. Software and automation is my friend and today we look into crypto portfolio rebalancers.
What is a Crypto Rebalancer?
This is a piece of software that lets you add a selection of crypto to a wallet, you allocate each crypto a percentage ensuring your total comes to 100% and select your rebalancing setting (1 time per day, on 1% change, never etc) These can be set up to either run automatically are manually requiring you to rebalance the wallet yourself.
Advantages
- More balanced growth
- More profits are locked in
- Works with the momentum of the market
Disadvantage
- No 20-50x returns
- Transaction fees
Why use a Crypto rebalance bot?
It can be passive and over time, compound into something huge. The idea of a rebalancer is not so much about keeping the wallet within a set of allocated amounts and more about growing the amount of crypto within through selling the strong to buy the weak.
Within crypto, BTC is king and each new market trend starts with BTC. High-ranked ALT tokens follow after BTC and low-ranked ALTs follow after that. If you have BTC in your rebalancer you giving yourself the best change to make a profit.
Why?
Because when BTC moons, the bot sells BTC to buy underperforming ALT coins. After a few weeks when ALTs start to the moon and BTC levels off, the bot starts to sell ALTS and buy back BTC. This repeats over and over, each time adding more ALTs and more BTC to your rebalancer account. When we factor in that the price of crypto over time will trend upwards, its the perfect recipe for max yield.
We only have this chance within crypto because no other investment in any other investment class holds as much dominance over the market as BTC does for crypto. The above explains how this can be taken advantage of and i think is a good reason to allocate some of your funds to a rebalancer (5-10%) and consider it another egg in the basket.
What are the best ones?
Hmmm, I am still figuring that out. I have only tried 2 to date and I have only been looking at free versions because XV is a small project and I can't justify a monthly bill to get extra features.
Binance
The first one is on Binance. They have a rebalance bot that will let to select up to 10 cryptos and select allocations and they have lots of rebalance options to pick from. Once you pick one, you hit launch and that's your work done until it's time to cash out. If this let us add 15 cryptos, I would be using this for XV but it's only 10. Another thing to note is minimum investment is $1000 USDT.
Here is how it looks after 8 days. You can see the bot has been working by comparing the "initial position" with "current position". The setting are to reallocate when any crypto moves up are down by 1%. Using BTC as an example with a target of 14%. When the actual allocation drops to 13%, the bot buys some BTC and when the allocation is 15% the bot sells some. Trades are done through USDT.
Red means the bot has sold some to buy Green and blue is untouched. You can there's an 87 USDT profit already but it's been a good week for the market and anything is up. I would also ignore the Annualised Yield as well because it's based on an 8-day sample and over time, this number will drop.
This bot has performed 3 sell orders and 5 buy orders. This from my POV is an excellent piece of software that Binance offer this is the one i would use if they let more than 10 cryptos as its fully automated.
Shrimpy
Next, is one called Shrimpy. There are not many projects out there doing this and this was the best free one I could find based on reviews and after a scam/phish check. Its been in operation for over 4 years and based on older videos, they have been consistently making updates and adding new features.
This platform is a little more set up but it's not that hard and works by connecting to either your exchange or offline wallet. You do this by creating an API in your exchange or wallet and adding that to your Shrimpy account. This means your crypto stays in your exchange or offline wallet and nothing is transferred to shrimpy.
After you do this, your tokens will display and from there you go into automation, make your selection, select the allocations and hit launch. The rebalance option for the free account is limited to 1 time per day with other options being available when you pay monthly.
The good thing about this is someone can add many exchanges and wallets to this and manage all the balances from 1 place. The API-only trades take place and they can not withdraw your funds. There is no minimum amount and you can simply add are remove funds by adding are removing crypto from your wallet. If you need $200 of BTC for something, you just take it and Shrimply will rebalance your wallet when next scheduled to do so.
I am testing this out with the bottom 5 cryptos for XV and so far, it has not done much. I can see it is trying to do it but it says the trades are too small to perform. lol. With a total wallet of only $180 here, that's understandable. There are 7 weeks of XV token sale left so I will be adding more to this and seeing if it performs better.
The Rest
There are others but these are the 2 I have tried so far. I am sure other exchanges offer this and there is another platform like Shrimpy out there. Please always do some research into anything you connecting your wallets too. Even a quick Reddit or youtube search is enough to give an idea.
Roundup
I think overall it would be a good idea to have some of your portfolio allocated to a rebalancer. I understand is it boring but you can basically create your own personalized index that auto-rebalances. Indexes are a great way to reduce risk and have exposure to many investments.
I would use Binance if you planning to invest a lump sum and just leave it there. They offer many more rebalance options, give nice stats and results charts and it tracks live.
I would use Shrimpy if you hold crypto in an offline wallet or if you are looking to consolidate many exchange and offline wallets into one. I guess assume using offline wallets with Shrimpy would be the most secure way to do crypto rebalancing as the crypto is always within your own wallet.
Overall, crypto reblancers are another excellent tool to for long-term crypto HODLers.
Have you used any of these before, if so, which one did you use and what was your experience with it?
Have a great weekend!
