Hello SPIers, today we look at our HBD balance. Im getting itching fingers to withdraw it and buy up a bunch of cryptos while they are still cheap but maybe we should hold out.
Our HBD balance
We've built up a nice stack of HBD that is compounding down nicely on itself. The is holding 12,960 HBD and we are getting interest payments of over 200 HBD each month. Our HBD savings wallet is the 84th biggest on the blockchain. Let's have a look and see how we built this balance up.
We started saving HBD in June 2021, each week since this time I have saved whatever HBD SPI receives from content rewards. This has ranged between 10 and 30 HBD per week over the past 2.5 years. In May 2022, I had already been cashing out a bunch of defi stuff and selling off a few HIVE when we added 4500 HBD to the savings wallet. I added a further 2500 HBD in June 2022 and around 500 more in May 2023.
We've added around 7500 HBD and the rest is from content and interest rewards which I think is impressive. The great thing about compounding at 20% is that it does not take long until what you earn in interest each month is more than your savings into it each month.
What are we doing with it?
Waiting and bidding our time. I would really like to convert it into 50k HIVE but not sure if that can happen. With 13k HBD, HIVE would need to be 26 cents. We might see that price, maybe only for a few weeks but thats a big maybe. I think it can happen to be honest but I understand why alot of others will not.
I had thought to convert 1000 HBD a month into HIVE for all of 2024 and see what we get. I have also been watching a few new cryptos entering the top 100 ranked. Most cryptos are 1-cycle tokens meaning they pump during their 1st bull and never see new time highs in future bullruns. NEO, BTC cash, EOS, XMR and many many others fall into this bag. If SPI is the make the most of this information, we should be investing in new cryptos every cycle. If we put $1k into 10 cryptos and only 1 did a 50x return, we'd be laughing all the way to the bank. I made a 120x ROI on ADA between 2019 and 2021 and it's always been a top 20 so any token in the top 100 has the potential to 50x and it's possible. Even BTC did a 20x between March 2020 and April 2021
Another thing I was thinking about was this BTC ETF thing from Blackpool and thinking about when it gets approved, what's next? The next logical crypto to create an ETF with would be ETH and snapping up $10k worth today could yield massive if the news of an ETH ETF were ever in the works.
For now, im just waiting. I think we will see a big correction that will last 3-5 weeks with lower-ranked cryptos getting hit harder than higher-ranked cryptos. The markets have been running hot for a while already and we can't just keep going up.
Either way, whatever we do with this balance, it's earning 20% while we wait which doubles it up every (72/20) = 3.2 or 3 years and 7 months. Ideally, in 6 months' time, most of our HBD will be in some crypto ready to 5-10x for us to convert it back into HBD.
I assume everyone saves HBD because it earns 20% and you'd be kinda silly not to have some. What are you doing with your HBD? Do you have plans, are you always actively building it or do you take the hands off and just let it compound down by itself?
Thanks for reading today's post, have a great day.
