The quality of yellow and orange is greatly enhanced by the quality of purple and blue. This because yellow and purple, blue and orange (and red and green) are all known as complimentary colours, meaning that the experience of seeing them is enhanced by their association with each other. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_wheel](Colour wheels explain this visually. ) Another way to put this is that one colour is less visible when it is contrasted with the other.
The concepts of Good and Bad are often thought of as oppositional, or complimentary, in a sense that is similar to these colours. When I choose to notice the Good stuff, especially the simple, free and everyday stuff like the magnifying effect of colours with colours, I feel more positive. When I pay more attention to my difficulties, my experiences are less pleasant. I don't mean that I try to live with my head in the clouds, just that focusing on the Good stuff builds my resilience to the other stuff that isn't so good, and there's plenty of both in my life.
Does focusing on yellow make purple better? I don't know, maybe...but complimentary colours provide effective contrasts...
Seeing more Good does affect how I see the contrasting 'Bad'. Focusing on the Good makes my life feel better. So yeah, yellow is better, or brighter, or more visible, if I choose to see it against the context of purple. Good is better if I choose to see it in the context of not so good. Good diminishes the Bad. The quality of my experience relies on the quality of the choices I make.
