The Finished Product
One of the fun things about summer is the ability to choose different major projects each day. Treasure is going into third grade and she was excited for nap time today.While the little kids are snoozing away, she learned another cooking skill.
Today we reviewed proper knife safety and learned to use a paring knife correctly. She also learned which fruits she could use skin and all and which ones you could not leave on and just slice. We also learned the difference between a seed and a pit. Lastly we used lemon and lime to keep the cut fruit browning.
Tomorrow she will read and make a report about what we learned in todays project. Our imperfect box came from the farm today also and we talked about why stores don't want super size lemons and crooked lemons. We talked about how much we saved off the vegetables and fruits in the store. We also talked about the benefit to the farmer. It was a major project and a lot of fun.
