I only buy bologna about twice a year. In general I don't eat a lot of sandwiches at all, but during summer, when the tomatoes are fresh, for a little while, I buy loaf bread. Yes... it's white bread, because I want my sandwiches tasting like childhood. So !....
While I have loaf bread anyway, I go ahead and have other sandwiches too, not just tomato. This past weekend I bought some THICK bologna. I like to make them with a layer of plain potato chips. I didn't do that when I was a child, but somewhere along the way I tried it, liked it, so now that is how I want it.
As I was working this morning, I knew I was going to have one for lunch. I even ate less snacks so I'd be hungry. ha ha
It finally came time to log off my workstation for lunch and I went straight to the kitchen to make my sammy ! When I got there, I found some ants on one of my counters. It didn't even have any food there. What were they doing?... walking along licking up unseen residue? Then I saw a piece of paper towel whose corner was making a bridge to my stove and sure enough, there was an ant or two walking around in one of the aluminum drip trays under the burner. I have to admit here, it has been a while since I scrubbed them out ... PHOOEY !! So I removed the bridge, sprayed them and the counters with kitchen cleaner, wiped it all up, put the drip pans in the sink and moved everything away from the area so I could see later if there were more..... knowing after work I'd have to do something more permanent because you know, ants send the message back to the rest of the hill pretty fast.
Once that was done, 20 minutes of my hour had disappeared, but it was time for that sandwich finally. I got my paper plate and 2 slices of bread and went to the fridge for the mayo. As I turned to put it on the table, the mayo jar slipped from my fingers and banged to the floor (thank GOD it wasn't glass !)....but the lid broke and a large dollop of mayo hit the rug and shot out a little more on the floor beside it. JEEZERS !! So I picked up the container and the lid and threw the lid away. I also picked up the blobs as best I could with a paper towel and wiped the floor, reminding myself not to step there till I had time to wash it properly.
I walked to the trash can and coming back, I stepped on the greasy spot on the floor that I was supposed to remember not to step on, so in order not to do THAT again, I picked up the rug and threw it in the washer and came back and washed that oily spot properly (and my foot !). Geez.... was I ever going to get that sandwhich ???? I was about to think not !
Finally I did get it made, put a plastic sandwich bag over the opening of the jar of mayo, secured it with a rubber band and put it back in the frig..... heh.
AND FINALLY.... I was able to sit down and eat it and it was GOOD.... but I felt rushed because it was in the last 20 minutes of my lunch hour. I so don't like to be rushed when I am eating... no I don't !
I guess you could say Murphy tried to take my whole lunch hour (You know, Murphy's Law that says anything that can go wrong.... will go wrong).... thank goodness Murphy didn't get my sandwich too ! 😆
So I will finish with, Don't use sandwiches for your monochrome posts, because they don't look very appetizing that way.... see ????
LOL !
Hope you have all had a good Monday and Murphy didn't come visit your house too.
