So what is Intermittent fasting?
Intermittent Fasting (IF) is an eating pattern where you allocate time to either fast(not eat) or to eat. Before I explain any further, Intermittent Fasting mimmicks what our ancestors daily lives would have been like since the dawn of mankind. Over the past few hundred thousand years, our bodies have become designed to actually be in a state of fasting very frequently. Its not until modern times that everyone has essentially become over fed, disrupting our bodies hormonal balance in the process (this is a topic for a later article that I will write)
Some examples of Intermittent Fasting are:
16:8:
Basically with 16:8 you fast for 16 hours, and then allow an 8 hour window to eat. So an example of this might be to eat from Midday until 8pm. and then fast from 8pm until midday the next day.
20:4
This means fasting for 20 hours, and then having a 4 hour window to eat. An example of this might be to eat from 4pm until 8pm, and then fast until 4pm the next day. This eating pattern is not recommended for beginners.
23:1
this means not eating for 23 hours, and then having a 1 hour window to eat. An example would be to eat between 7pm to 9pm, and then fast from 8pm until 7pm the next evening. This eating pattern is not recommended for beginners.
The reason why why Intermittent fasting is good for burning off excess fat is because it gives your body a chance to play "catch up" on the calories burning business that it is in.
Intermittent Fasting is not only good for burning fat, but has many other benefits:
-It boost Human Growth Hormones (HGH), which aids the bodys repair process, and helps burn fat
-It boosts Testosterone - increased strength, muscle tone, fat burning, and less sleep required
-Delays the ageing process
-Reduces inflammation
-Reduces blood pressure
-Reduces bad Cholesterol
-Prolongs life
-Renews cells, prevent cancer by killing off cells before they have a chance to become cancerous in the first place
-It makes your day easier. You don't have to worry about spending so much time planning what your going to eat, and then allocating time to buy all of the groceries, and cook them.
-It could potentially save you money on grocery bills
