Hey everyone. This will be a quick post about American Football...more specifically the National Football League or NFL. I am from New York and one of the home teams here is the New York Giants. This year in the draft, the Giants drafted Running Back (RB) Saquon Barkley, with the second pick overall in the draft. Barkley has the ability to be an every down back which means he has the potential of being on the field for a good percentage of the game right away as a rookie.
Barkley was born in the Bronx, and went to college for Penn State. He broke many football records in high school and put up great numbers playing for Penn State. At Penn State he played for three seasons, running for 3,843 yards with 43 rushing touchdowns, while adding 1,195 receiving yards with 8 touchdown receptions. He broke and set numerous Penn State Records including most rushing touchdowns in a career, most rushing yards by a freshman and sophomore as well as most total yards in a single game. His running style can be compared to that of Barry Sanders who played for Detroit Lions.
Barkley recently made his first appearance as a New York Giant in the first game of the preseason. He finished the game with four carries for 43 yards. However, what was most impressive was his first run. On his first run he ran for a 39-yard masterpiece that got many Giants fans and fantasy football owners excited. Hopefully this will be a sign of things to come for the rookie running back and the NY Giants. In terms of fantasy football, Barkley is a generational talent and deserves every bit of a first-round fantasy placement.
Well that is all for now. I am starting to get excited for the upcoming football season and for fantasy football. I hope you are too. Thanks for reading and I will see you again soon.
