Ahoy mateys! This is the first in which I hope to be a series of food posts for us poor Pirates of STEEM. Since the price of our cryptocurrency booty is so low, many of us must tighten our belts.

My sister frequents food banks and many times will bring me those things that others do not care to keep. The latest delivery was two bags of precooked sausage links and a large box of cream cheese restaurant packets. Having lived in the Southern part of the United States for many years, I have a great fondness for Sausage Gravy. This is my take on this gastronomic delight!
Cream Cheese Sausage Gravy
The first thing we must do is gather together all our ingredients. I am not very good at using measurements, so I pretty much eyeball and guess at everything!
Ingredients
- Sausage (could be linked, could be whatever you have)
- Oil (lard or butter if we are Southern Culinary Purists)
- Cream Cheese
- Water/Milk
- Flour
- Pepper (lots and lots of pepper)
Steps
- Preheat skillet on medium low heat (when drops of water dance in the pan it is ready)
- Add a bit of oil/lard/butter to the pan (I guess about two (2) teaspoons should do)
- Add the sausage to the pan and cook thoroughly (don't want to get Trichinosis)
- Once the sausage is cooked through, add the cream cheese and a bit of water/milk
- Lower the heat and allow the cream cheese to combine with the sausage, stirring constantly
- Add pepper while the sausage and cream cheese are combining
- Add small amounts of flour if the gravy is too thin stirring continuously
- After stirring for a good 10 minutes or so, we should be done! (Don't rush the process, good things come to those that wait!)
I want to thank ,
, and
as they were my inspirations in the production of this post.
