Eggs Benedict has to be one of my favorite breakfast dishes. While staying in Gimli about two months ago, my boyfriend and I went out for breakfast at the Lakeview Gimli Resort. I was craving smoked salmon for the longest time and they had Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon on their menu, so I decided to order it. Ever since then, I've been wanting Eggs Benedict. So, I decided to try and make it this morning....lol.
I'm not a pro chef just yet, so I bought packaged hollandaise sauce mix because there was no way in hell I was making that from scratch, haha!
Let's start off by saying that the directions call for mixing butter and the sauce mix together. I don't have butter, I have margarine.
While mixing the sauce together, I started the eggs. I've never made poached eggs before without an egg poacher pan. You know, the pan that has the cups. Like the pro chef that I obviously am, I did it with water just like it showed in the videos. Half the whites cooked far, far away from the rest of the egg. I was left with a little bit of whites and the yoke, lol. It still poached so, that's good.
I placed the eggs on the English muffin and poured the sauce on top. Here's what I was blessed with..
I know what you are all thinking. "Wow Stevie! You are so great at making Eggs Benedict!" lol.
Honestly, it really wasn't that bad for my first attempt. The sauce tasted a little different because I did have to use margarine instead of butter but it was still good. The eggs were a little sad but again, they still poached. I think next time I try, it will be much better. Butter will be involved second time around and I may or may not buy an egg poacher pan, lol.
Do you like Eggs Benedict? Are you a pro like myself? Let me know how you enjoy it!
