I like to pause once every week and look back through my photos to relive memorable moments, remember the forgotten ones, and reflect upon adventures of the recent past. Though I strive to hit the mark weekly with a collection of adventures, sometimes I look and it has been 2 weeks, or even a month! The shame!
This week, I have month of double-shots to catch you up.
Double Bogey!
I have to start with golf! We were in the right place at the right time to score a round of golf on the first day of the delayed season. Golf seems like such a gift with its physical activity, out doors, fun and beer all wrapped into one 4-hour package. The fact that it is also a business meeting and highlight of the week makes it not even feel like work.
What's better than early season golf is lots of it. Before last year, I usually only golfed less than 4 times a year. I have already surpassed that in the first month of this year and hopefully we will be able to keep up the pace. check that shot out!
Work Squared
Sometimes, things are not as they should be. Being in the wiring game occasionally, you have the bar set fairly low when they come asking for help. No matter, we had a chance to build another sophisticated network for a reputable local establishment. Hopefully, this mess is a thing of the past as we have a nice mesh wireless network to service all business needs.
Proud to say we planned properly and had an attention to detail good enough to have zero issues reported by the client.
While work can drag me into a dusty closet, it can also get me on the guest list for a fancy restaurant photo shoot. We are helping a brave new venture forge on into the uncharted covid waters in an era where 1 out of every 3 restaurants has closed down. Miraculously, or just as an indicator of strength of this tight community, we have retained most of our restaurants (despite next to know out-of -towners) and even added a few.
This is the line-up of sandwiches in the new lunch menu at https://keepinitcreole.ca. Not only are they busting out a new menu, we are launching online ordering and a campaign to kick business up to the next notch. We have big growth plans and this photoshoot may prove to be as pivotal as it was delicious to eat!
How About a Garden Double Tap
I launched the Pickleman Family Garden just over a month ago with a new garden box for greens, and some returning strawberries which have taken over theirs to make a patch. Check out those cute little peppers and the modest sprouts everywhere else!
Here is how it looked about a week ago after a little rain. Lattices in the back for the cherry tomatoes and cucumbers to scale as they grow. 1 week later, I poked my nose in a little closer for a peek at the fruit and veggies popping early in the summer here @zekepickleman/hivegarden-update-budding-veggies-already So much going on up close that I forgot to snap another pano shot. I bet you would be surprised at the growth that followed a week of alternating blazing sun and pouring rain.
I would shoot one now but it is mercifully raining, the lawn is embarrassingly uncut, and maybe I should keep you in suspense for the next #gardenhive update.
Moonlighting!
With the reopening of outdoor dining, there have been some fun adventures to dive into for the first time in what feels like ages. One of them is Adventures in Bartending! It starts with 'come pour some beer and wine' and rapidly escalates to mixing the fanciest cocktails at one of our fanciest venues.
Not a bad place to hang out and help out.
Not a bad row of taps either! In a true #beerologist moment, I was asked for a bartender's choice flight. I started with a Fourfathers Light Craft Lager https://fourfathersbrewing.ca/product/light-lager-case-24-cans-and-w-free-pint-glass/ followed by a traditional Murphy's Irish Stout https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/240/703/ and then stepped it up to the local Black Swan EPA https://blackswanbrewing.ca/show/our-beer and pushed them off the cliff with a powerful Redline Speed Wobble American Strong Ale http://www.redlinebrewhouse.com/the-beers/speed-wobble/. This could turn into a #BeerSaturday post if I am not careful.
I will leave you with this water tower which is reminding me more and more of an arcade joystick. Pac Man maybe.
Thanks for checking in. Have as much fun as possible before the next Zekely.
