I was always under the impression that the jump up to $38 we had a few months ago from purely from it's addition to Coinbase. If I remember correctly, after segwit was enabled, Litecoin crashed down to the high 20's again.

Regardless I am a hodler and believer in Litecoin. With the cloudy mess that's over bitcoin mining/dev right now I think it's a better choice than ever.
