I went out for a photo hike this morning and luckily took my camera rain cover because it rained for 2 and a half of the three miles along the Buzzard Rock Trail in Patapsco Valley State Park. On the bright side it made the water flow even faster for my long exposure shots of the river and its tributaries. The flooding from this summer’s persistent rainstorms left a lot of debris in the river and in Pigs Run creek which flows into the river.
Just before Pigs Run flows into the Patapsco, it crosses under a very old railroad bridge. I’ve photographed it before, but not since I bought my Sony A7ii camera.
I found a new app to animate my photos. Below is my first try at embedding a gif.
I love taking these close up long exposures that have lots of detail contrasted with the silky smooth flowing water.
As you see it the photo below the river remains very highs. Normally this shot would show lots of boulders and little rapids.
And here’s a view from the top of Buzzard Rock looking up the rail line leading to historic Old Ellicott City.
