Understanding other world-views and practicing non-judgment is a sign of emotional intelligence. Worshipping and serving a God is different than respecting Moral Truths.
Jesus was born 2000 years ago while Buddha was born 2500 years ago. (fun fact)
The Golden Rule:
Jesus-"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." (Luke 6:31)
Buddha-"Consider others as yourself." Dhammapada 10.1
Grace:
Jesus-Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. (John 1:17)
Buddha-The body of the Buddha is born of love, patience, gentleness, and truth Vimalakirtinirdesh A Sutra 2
Truth:
Jesus- "you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free." (John 8:32)
Buddha- One who acts on truth is happy in this world and beyond. Dhammapada 13.2
Love:
Jesus-"Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you." (Mathew 26:52)
"Let a man overcome anger by love, let him overcome evil by good." Dhammapada 22.3
Destiny
Jesus-the child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon him. (Luke 2:40)
Buddha- The prince will come to the fulfillment of perfect enlightenment. The religious life will be fully expounded. Sutta Nipata 693
Non-Judgment
Jesus- "Why do you see the speck in your neighbor's eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye? Mathew 7:5
Buddha- "The faults of others are easier to see than one's own; for they are sifted like chaff, but one's own faults are hard to see." Undavavarga 27.1
Future
Jesus- "Heaven and Earth will pass away." (Mark 13:31)
Buddha-" This great earth will be burnt up, will utterly perish and be no more. Anguttara Nikaya 7.62
Wisdom
Jesus-the kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that someone took and sowed in the field; it is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree so that the birds of the air come and make nests in the branches (Mathew 13:31-32)
Buddha- Do not underestimate good thinking it will not affect you. Dripping water can fill a pitcher, drop by drop; one who is wise is filled with good, even if one accumulates it little by little Dhammapada 9.701
