I saw a definite "shift" in this attitude and conception when I was in college from 2004-2009. It was hard to ignore it, actually.

And much like yourself, I barely gave a damn about such matters until it was shoved in my face constantly within higher-ed indoctrination camps.

The truly terrible thing is... these sorts of articles/signals/perceptions forced onto people don't actually help solve the problem of racial tensions... they only serve to aggravate it and make it far worse.
