This post is about mushrooms also, though this time it is about the real thing. in the woods.
I've not been feeling so greatly but last weekend i got the inspiration to go and look for some mushrooms from the small forest nearby. I think i was there like 2-3 hours just wandering about before i found something actually worth picking up but it was a decent find; I ended up with about a half a litre of small trumpet chantarelles(Craterellus tubaeformis). I was pretty excited about them as it was the first time i ever picked them - they are the kind of mushroom you don't see before you see them. I was a bit early for them but i might make another trip in few days. Meanwhile, here are some pictures from this one.
...
have to stop for every stump...
Too late for this boletus(i think) it had quite a potent stench
these are close to the types i had gave me inspiration for my sculptures before
I don't what is wrong with me but thought this round rock was funny and i had to go stand on it..
These ones didn't look very appetizing either.
There is something to think about
Nope
I wonder how these will grow out
This looks like something
from another spot
These are the ones i was looking for. Craterellus tubaeformis, formerly Cantharellus tubaeformis.
I was pretty hyped about them. After i knew what i was looking for i start to see them more and more in little bunches.
this is how much i ended up with. Enough for a soup anyway
i didn't have much other ingredients so i googled a bit and mixed some recipes together played with that
The recipe
Half a litre of trumpet chanterelles
1l of water
1 vegetable stock bouillon cube
olive oil
splash of fish sauce
dripping of honey
pinch of dried sage
I cleaned the mushrooms and shredded them to halves. Then I fried them in bit of olive oil for few minutes.
Then i prepared the stock and added the fish sauce, honey and sage. Then I put the mushrooms back and the soup was done. Have to say it was pretty amazing meal. The artificial flavour of the stock cube came pretty strong at first but was soon surpassed by richness of the mushrooms.
