There are hills in Manorville left by the last ice age. Long Island was created by at least two separate ice sheets. These ice sheets deposited the sand that formed the island. One stopped and formed the south fork of the island and another at a different time created the north fork. On the very top of one of these hills, with a height of 200 feet above sea level rests a very large "Rock". The Glaciers also brought down stones and rocks of various sizes. These rocks are called "Erractics".
The property with the hill and rock were donated to the Montfort Missionaries by a Mr & Mrs John Harrison of East Moriches in 1957.
In 1975 an 18 foot statue of the Virgin Mary was gifted by the Vigliotta family and designed by Raphel Desoto of Patchogue.
This Statue sits atop the "Rock" that over looks the bay and ocean. Outside mass is given at the base of the "Rock".
To get to the Shrine a short but incline walk is needed.
Here is the view the "Lady" has. Picture doesn't do it justice.
