Italian Americans sometimes like to deviate from the traditional Turkey dinner and this year it was an all italian menu....and experience.
My family is Italian and so is my girlfriend's family so this year she not only made some great Lasagna from scratch but also some homemade spaghetti noodles. After mixing the dough it's time to run it through the rollers with flour.
After getting it all flat and stretched out it's time to switch attachments on the mixer and cut the noodles to get ready to boil.
It's kinda a cool process really. I know my little niece sure had fun using this machine because she made the whole batch for everyone. These noodles are fantastic and much better than dried noodles you buy in the supermarket.
These traditional ways of making authentic Italian food seem to be fading away but, some people still do it. Cooking is not only an art it takes a lot of skill to get it to all come out right, especially cooking for 20 people or so.
The girls were all hard at work in the kitchen and the dinner we had was fantastic. Homemade sausage, meatballs, noodles, salad, fresh bread and mounds of dessert.
I hope your Christmas dinner is just as good wherever you reside in the world. This is just a little look into how we do it around these parts!
Merry Christmas Everyone. ๐๐๐
