Of true freedom, not freedom to buy the cheapest version of a plastic item, but freedom to participate in deep and meaningful growth through empowerment.

With a bit of land and a group of friends, is it possible to change the world? One small part of it, at least!
Will knowing that the trend of the next century will be to localize production and globalize best practices ie information, will that be enough to start today to implement it, and ultimately prevail?
The other option is quite distopian.
New conflicts? Neo- 'cyber enabled' - Feudalism? Increased centralized control? No thanks.
My plan involves agroforestry systems.
Down here in Colombia, together with my wife and many friends we have been testing the theories of Permaculture. Learning about dozens and eventually hundreds of species of plants by reading, studying but most importantly by observing them alive, caring for them and listening to them.
We have observed that the current system of agriculture hides massive inefficiencies!
It sounds contra-intuitive, but its true.
When you do a full energy accounting, you will find that modern agriculture is capable of tremendous inefficiencies, such as using as much as 10x the kilocalories in inputs as it produces in outputs.
But the solutions are quite elegant. Natural systems are far more abundant that our silly mono-culture set ups. In fact, properly managed, I suspect that the full abundance of this GAIAN Earth would surprise and shock any one today.
This is in stark contrast to the Malthusian Materialists who declare the resources scarce and clamor to get the biggest share for themselves.
We are being called by the LIGHT. It has an intention for us, that we choose to live abundantly, in cooperation with the GARDEN of Creation.
Plant TO ATTRACT BIRDS. (They eat insects too)
Plant SHADE. (The most efficient solar panels are leaves)
Plant FOOD. (Solar panels that produce berries, YUM!)
Plant MEDICINE. (Aloe is quite popular!)
Do not waste time with no, with protest, with against. Those who seek redress for their greivances give authority to the arbitor! But I know that we can solve our own problems, take back the authority to govern ourselves, take back our sovereignty and live free in a new world!
