My favorite hashtag is #foodporn where you can find so many photos of food.
For some reason whenever I take portraits of people, I always end with them and food. My apple allergy entices me to photograph the forbidden fruit with my models often.
I decided that I wanted to dedicate an entire calendar shoot to people and food. I worked with a chef from St. Paul, Richard Dortch who created some dishes for the project. He came up with giant sloppy joes, deep fried turkey leg, pancakes the size of your head, mac and cheese in a cone, and a coy boy burger. I also went to the grocery store and picked out some items to get the models dressed in like cabbage, candy on their faces, and more.
I really had fun with all of the collaboration and mess making with the models. Most models had ideas that were on their bucket list and I got to fulfill them. My favorite was filling a bathtub full of bright sugary cereal and milk while two best friends played in it. I had so much fun with this project and so did all of the people involved. I felt like everyone was excited to bring their ideas to the table. This became less of my ideas and more of a bunch of people using their creative skills and food fetish's to make this calendar happen.
AH! Such an amazing group people.
