Nerium oleander is a shrub or small tree in the dogbane family Apocynaceae, toxic in all its parts. There are estimated to be 25 million oleanders planted along highways and roadsides throughout the State of California. Poisoning and reactions to oleander plants are evident quickly, requiring immediate medical care in suspected or known poisonings of both humans and animals.
Kalanchoe blossfeldiana is a herbaceous commonly cultivated houseplant of the genus Kalanchoe native to Madagascar. It is known by the English common names flaming Katy, Christmas kalanchoe, florist kalanchoe and Madagascar widow's-thrill.
