I had an amazing time at an herb walk in Manitou Springs hosted by Sara and Anna from Anna’s Apothecary.
This is the Burdock plant. The root is used for liver detoxification. Interestingly enough, this plant is very detoxifying to the soil as well, so you will find it in some toxic areas working to purify the air and soil.
This is mullein, a powerful respiratory herb. Very good for breaking up and expelling mucus from the body. Tonifying to the lungs and supports healthy breathing. Similar to burdock it is a soil detoxifier, so be mindful of where you are harvesting.
You can also use the mullein flowers to heal ear infections. You would double boil the yellow flowers in olive oil and add some fresh garlic at the end. Place in the ear, and you can find very quick relief.
Harvest Mullein flowers when the are just starting to flower for maximum potency.
This is echinacea propena, a very powerful immune booster. Also can be helpful for anxiety and depression. Good for autoimmune and builds blood cells. Harmful to anyone with HIV. A wonderful addition to an herbal antibiotic treatment.
This is a Linden flower tree, the flowers are amazing for calming nervous tension and anxiety. They also have a beautiful aroma when the bloom. They have already bloomed this year, and next year I’m gonna wildcraft some.
This is the classic lavender plant. The lavender buds are amazing for calming and soothing the nerves. It also has antibacterial properties that make it an easy addition to salves to fight infection and help calm the skin.
Mix with holy basil for a great tea to combat depression.
This is part 1 of my walk and I will be sharing more daily! Thanks for joining me on my journey.
